In the earlier part of his career he was successful as a figurative and portrait artist, working both in oils and graphite. Today, he chooses to work in abstract form on large canvas or board, creating vibrant, colourful images with oil paints he makes himself using traditional methods. |
Jon finds inspiration for his work in the natural world but the influence of the inner emotional landscape is clearly evident.
His subtle use of colour creates powerful abstract images suggestive of land, sea and sky but at all times within a semi-abstract space that allows room for the imagination. |
