Biography
Jon Adam was born in 1961 and brought up in the farming and coastal landscape of Cornwall which has proved a major influence on his work. He is self-taught and has painted professionally since the early 90s.
In the earlier part of his career, Adam worked as a figurative and portrait artist, both in oils and graphite. Today, he chooses to work in abstract form on large canvas or board, creating vibrant, colourful images with oil paints he makes using traditional methods.
In February 2003 and 2004 Adam exhibited at the Agora Gallery, New York which brought his work to a wider audience. Since then he has exhibited more widely in the UK, both in galleries, open studio events and art fairs including the London Affordable Art Fair and Battersea Contemporary Art Fair.
He has received corporate commissions including an album cover No Eyes to Cry for Mark Puncher of the Mark Puncher Project and Channel 4 TV where his work was commissioned for inclusion in the series North Square.
